Serving Greater Phoenix: Cleaning and Repairing Pools Since 2008 |
Call Now: (480) 907-0076
If you own a pool in Tempe, you already know the math: skip a week in July and you’re not looking at a slightly dirty pool. You’re looking at a green one. Between the heat, the dust that blows in off the desert, and the mineral-heavy water this whole Valley runs on, an Arizona pool doesn’t hold its balance the way a pool in a milder climate does. Weekly service isn’t a luxury add-on here. It’s the minimum it takes to keep a pool swimmable instead of turning into a weekend project.
Captain Pools has been running weekly routes through Tempe and the surrounding Valley since 2008. Same technician, same day, every week, so you’re not guessing when someone’s coming or re-explaining your pool’s history to a new face every visit.
The Valley’s tap water runs high in dissolved minerals. Left unmanaged, that mineral content deposits as calcium scale along your waterline and tile, and it happens faster in neglected pools than well-maintained ones. Weekly brushing and balanced chemistry slow this down considerably; monthly or biweekly service does not.
Tempe’s canal system and the properties around Tempe Town Lake mean a meaningful share of local pools sit closer to standing water and irrigation runoff than pools in, say, north Scottsdale. That translates to more organic debris and a higher baseline bather load in shared HOA communities near the water, both of which push chemistry off balance faster.
Tempe sits in a heavy dust-storm corridor during monsoon season (roughly June through September). A single haboob can dump enough fine dust and debris into an uncovered pool to cloud the water and clog a filter in one afternoon. Pools on a weekly schedule recover from this in one visit. Pools on a longer cycle can spiral into a full green-pool recovery job, which costs more and takes longer to fix than it would have to prevent.
Intense sun burns off free chlorine far faster here than in most of the country. A pool that’s perfectly balanced on Monday can be under-chlorinated by Thursday in peak summer. Weekly testing and rebalancing keeps that swing inside a safe, swimmable range instead of finding out the hard way.
Almost two decades of hard water, desert dust, and monsoon debris means we've seen how Tempe pools actually behave over a full year, not just in a brochure season.
You'll know exactly what was done at each visit and why, and if something needs attention beyond routine service, we'll tell you before we do anything, not after.
If something comes up between your regular visits, a repair need, a chemistry emergency, a piece of storm debris- we send someone out the same day you call, not the same week.
Real customers across the Valley, not a curated handful of testimonials.

GOOD Based on 145 reviews Posted on Google Michael SkinnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Back in January of this year, I had Captain Pools change out my old sand filter for a cartridge type filter and they did a very good job with that. Over the last couple of months though, I had noticed that the union fitting on top of the pump was leaking a little water during pump operation. Although I don't like ANY leaks, I kept putting it off. Several days ago I called Captain Pools and asked them if they could look at it. Anyway, they arrived today and discovered the fitting was just a little loose so it ended up being a very quick fix. I'm glad they were able to respond quickly to my request, diagnose the issue and fix the problem. I'll continue to use Captain Pools in the future for any problems that arise, and recommend their services for any pool work.Posted on Google Mike DickinsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you Captain Pools!Posted on Google Thomas BruchuTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Michael at Captain pools does a great job every week for my pool. This week I ordered a new vacuum and he set it up and installed it for me! Great weekly price and great service!Posted on Google Rosemary RaysorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have used Captain Pools for approximately 6 years, in addition to having them do a full refresh (decking, removal of an old water feature and adding pebble stone). We have been very happy with their service, their communications (i.e. if our technician is out sick or delayed, we are notified) and their fairness. I am able to trust if they tell me a part needs repair / replacement, and they take care of issues timely. Would absolutely recommend Captain Pools!Posted on Google Matt CavendishTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have been a customer of Captain Pools for over 10 years—they are an amazing company. Nate the owner has been so helpful for my family from the start. Today we had out cartridge filters cleaned by Scott! Wow! Living in this dusty desert really takes a toll on mostly everything. Scott did an awesome job! He was super nice, especially to our little dog who ran outside. See the before and after phots below. Seeing is believing. Thank you again Scott and Captain Pools!Posted on Google Jeff GitlinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Lucas is amazing. Very helpful and knowledgeable about pools. Pool filter cleaning was well priced and efficient. Additionally, the tech showed me how to set my valves for spa mode along with regular daily settings. He also answered a few other questions that I had along with some general tips and tricks for pool maintenance. Have been using Captain Pools for 2 pools weekly for the last few years, only good things to say.Posted on Google Connie JamesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have had Captain Pools service my pool for 2 years. I have had other companies that lied, did not answer calls, and were very unprofessional. I am completely happy with Captain Pools. They go above and beyond. Prices are very fair Connie James
Weekly service runs $30–$45 per visit (about $130–$195/month), depending on your pool’s size and condition. Contact us for an exact quote for your property.
Chemicals are billed separately from the weekly cleaning fee. If a chemical charge applies, we’ll always let you know in advance before it’s billed, no surprise line items on your invoice.
After every cleaning, we email you a digital service log covering the chemicals and dosages used, filter pressure readings, technician notes, and before-and-after photos.
Weekly is standard for the Tempe area year-round. Some owners consider stretching to biweekly in the cooler winter months, but given monsoon season and consistent UV exposure, most Tempe pools stay on a weekly schedule to avoid the chemistry swings described above.
That’s a separate recovery service, not routine weekly cleaning. We’ll assess it, tell you honestly whether it’s a one-visit shock treatment or a multi-stage recovery, and quote it before starting.
