Serving Greater Phoenix: Cleaning and Repairing Pools Since 2008 |
Call Now: (480) 907-0076
Phoenix pool owners ask more of their equipment than almost anywhere else in the country. Between the summer heat load and the sheer number of run-hours a Valley pool logs in a year, pumps, filters, heaters, and automation systems wear out faster here than they would in a milder climate, and when one component fails, it often takes the rest of the system’s efficiency down with it.
Captain Pools has been repairing pool equipment across the Phoenix metro since 2008. We’re a licensed Arizona contractor (ROC #33666) and an authorized Hayward warranty station, which means we can diagnose and repair Hayward equipment under manufacturer warranty terms, not just patch it and hope. If your pump is short-cycling, your filter pressure won’t hold, your heater won’t ignite, or your salt system is throwing an error code, we’ll find the actual cause and give you a straight quote before any work starts.
Loud grinding or humming, reduced flow, tripped breakers, or a pump that won’t prime are usually signs of failing bearings, a worn shaft seal, or an electrical fault, not always a dead motor. We diagnose before we recommend replacement.
Whether you’re running sand, cartridge, or DE, we repair cracked filter tanks, failed multiport valves, torn cartridge elements, and pressure gauge issues that leave you guessing about your filtration cycle.
Ignition failures, error codes, pilot issues, and heat exchangers compromised by mineral scale are the most common heater problems we see in the Phoenix Valley, where water hardness varies significantly by neighborhood and municipal source.
Salt cells wear out, that’s expected. But error codes, low-output warnings, and premature cell failure are often caused by a control board issue or improper flow, not the cell itself. We test the whole system, not just the cell.
From basic timers to full smart-home-integrated control panels, we troubleshoot and repair automation systems that have stopped communicating with pumps, heaters, or valves.
Actuator valve failures and equipment-side plumbing leaks often masquerade as “the pump is broken” — we check the full system path before condemning a component.

GOOD Based on 145 reviews Posted on Google Michael SkinnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Back in January of this year, I had Captain Pools change out my old sand filter for a cartridge type filter and they did a very good job with that. Over the last couple of months though, I had noticed that the union fitting on top of the pump was leaking a little water during pump operation. Although I don't like ANY leaks, I kept putting it off. Several days ago I called Captain Pools and asked them if they could look at it. Anyway, they arrived today and discovered the fitting was just a little loose so it ended up being a very quick fix. I'm glad they were able to respond quickly to my request, diagnose the issue and fix the problem. I'll continue to use Captain Pools in the future for any problems that arise, and recommend their services for any pool work.Posted on Google Mike DickinsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you Captain Pools!Posted on Google Thomas BruchuTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Michael at Captain pools does a great job every week for my pool. This week I ordered a new vacuum and he set it up and installed it for me! Great weekly price and great service!Posted on Google Rosemary RaysorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have used Captain Pools for approximately 6 years, in addition to having them do a full refresh (decking, removal of an old water feature and adding pebble stone). We have been very happy with their service, their communications (i.e. if our technician is out sick or delayed, we are notified) and their fairness. I am able to trust if they tell me a part needs repair / replacement, and they take care of issues timely. Would absolutely recommend Captain Pools!Posted on Google Matt CavendishTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have been a customer of Captain Pools for over 10 years—they are an amazing company. Nate the owner has been so helpful for my family from the start. Today we had out cartridge filters cleaned by Scott! Wow! Living in this dusty desert really takes a toll on mostly everything. Scott did an awesome job! He was super nice, especially to our little dog who ran outside. See the before and after phots below. Seeing is believing. Thank you again Scott and Captain Pools!Posted on Google Jeff GitlinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Lucas is amazing. Very helpful and knowledgeable about pools. Pool filter cleaning was well priced and efficient. Additionally, the tech showed me how to set my valves for spa mode along with regular daily settings. He also answered a few other questions that I had along with some general tips and tricks for pool maintenance. Have been using Captain Pools for 2 pools weekly for the last few years, only good things to say.Posted on Google Connie JamesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have had Captain Pools service my pool for 2 years. I have had other companies that lied, did not answer calls, and were very unprofessional. I am completely happy with Captain Pools. They go above and beyond. Prices are very fair Connie James
Cost depends entirely on what’s actually failing, a control board, a seal kit, and a full pump replacement are very different jobs. We diagnose first and give you a firm quote before doing any work, so you’re never guessing.
Yes. We’re an authorized Hayward warranty station, but we diagnose and repair equipment from other major manufacturers as well.
Response times vary by day and location within the Phoenix metro. Call (480) 907-0076 and we’ll give you the most accurate estimate for your area.
It depends on the age, the specific failure, and whether the rest of your system is compatible with a replacement. We’ll give you an honest assessment rather than pushing a replacement by default.
Regularly. Mismatched or retrofitted equipment from different eras is one of the most common issues we diagnose in central Phoenix homes.
Don’t let a small equipment issue turn into a full system replacement. Call Captain Pools at (480) 907-0076 for a proper diagnosis and a straight quote.
