Serving Greater Phoenix: Cleaning and Repairing Pools Since 2008 |
Call Now: (480) 907-0076
A green pool in Phoenix isn’t rare; it’s one of the most common calls we get. Between a large part-year resident population, real estate turnover, and a climate that lets algae take hold fast once chemical balance slips, Phoenix has more green-to-blue recovery jobs than almost any market we serve. Captain Pools has been restoring neglected and algae-filled pools across the Valley since 2008, and we treat every recovery as its own diagnosis, not a one-size dump-and-hope chemical treatment. If your pool has gone green from weeks of neglect, a vacant property you just purchased, or a pump failure you didn’t catch in time, we’ll assess the actual cause, not just the color, and bring it back safely.
We test water chemistry, inspect equipment function, and identify what actually caused the green — not just what color it is now. A pump failure and a simple neglect case require different approaches, even if the water looks the same.
We bring chlorine levels up to the point needed to kill active algae, and confirm your pump and filter are circulating properly, recovery doesn’t work if the water isn’t moving.
Dead algae and organic debris get filtered out over the following days. Depending on filter type and pool condition, this phase can take anywhere from a day to about a week.
Once the pool clears, we rebalance pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels so it’s not just clear, it’s stable and swim-ready.
If a pump, filter, or heater failure contributed to the green pool in the first place, we’ll flag it and quote the repair separately, so the same problem doesn’t put you right back where you started.

GOOD Based on 145 reviews Posted on Google Michael SkinnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Back in January of this year, I had Captain Pools change out my old sand filter for a cartridge type filter and they did a very good job with that. Over the last couple of months though, I had noticed that the union fitting on top of the pump was leaking a little water during pump operation. Although I don't like ANY leaks, I kept putting it off. Several days ago I called Captain Pools and asked them if they could look at it. Anyway, they arrived today and discovered the fitting was just a little loose so it ended up being a very quick fix. I'm glad they were able to respond quickly to my request, diagnose the issue and fix the problem. I'll continue to use Captain Pools in the future for any problems that arise, and recommend their services for any pool work.Posted on Google Mike DickinsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great weekly price and great service!Posted on Google Rosemary RaysorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have used Captain Pools for approximately 6 years, in addition to having them do a full refresh (decking, removal of an old water feature and adding pebble stone). We have been very happy with their service, their communications (i.e. if our technician is out sick or delayed, we are notified) and their fairness. I am able to trust if they tell me a part needs repair / replacement, and they take care of issues timely. Would absolutely recommend Captain Pools!Posted on Google Matt CavendishTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have been a customer of Captain Pools for over 10 years—they are an amazing company. Nate the owner has been so helpful for my family from the start. Today we had out cartridge filters cleaned by Scott! Wow! Living in this dusty desert really takes a toll on mostly everything. Scott did an awesome job! He was super nice, especially to our little dog who ran outside. See the before and after phots below. Seeing is believing. Thank you again Scott and Captain Pools!Posted on Google Jeff GitlinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Lucas is amazing. Very helpful and knowledgeable about pools. Pool filter cleaning was well priced and efficient. Additionally, the tech showed me how to set my valves for spa mode along with regular daily settings. He also answered a few other questions that I had along with some general tips and tricks for pool maintenance. Have been using Captain Pools for 2 pools weekly for the last few years, only good things to say.Posted on Google Connie JamesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have had Captain Pools service my pool for 2 years. I have had other companies that lied, did not answer calls, and were very unprofessional. I am completely happy with Captain Pools. They go above and beyond. Prices are very fair Connie James
It depends on severity. A pool that’s been green for a week or two can often clear in a few days once treatment starts. A pool neglected for months, or with heavy algae growth on surfaces, can take longer. We’ll give you a realistic timeline after we see it.
Cost depends on how severe the green is, how long it’s been neglected, and whether equipment failure is part of the cause. We assess first and quote before starting any work.
Yes. This is one of the most common jobs we do in Phoenix, especially with real estate turnover. We can typically coordinate directly with buyers, sellers, or property managers.
If the underlying cause (neglect, equipment failure, or chemical imbalance) is addressed and you maintain regular service afterward, it should hold. If equipment contributed to the problem, we’ll flag what needs repair so it doesn’t recur.
Not for most of the process. We’ll coordinate access for the initial assessment and treatment, and keep you updated as the pool clears.
Don’t let a green pool sit longer than it has to, the longer algae is established, the more work it takes to reverse. Call Captain Pools at (480) 907-0076 for an assessment and a straight quote.
