Serving Greater Phoenix: Cleaning and Repairing Pools Since 2008 |
Call Now: (480) 907-0076
Phoenix pools take on more than the usual dirt and debris: dust storms, monsoon runoff, and heavy pollen seasons load your filter faster than most climates, and the desert sun accelerates wear on cartridge material. A dirty or worn filter doesn’t just make water cloudy; it forces your pump to work harder, drives up energy costs, and can shorten the life of the whole filtration system.
Captain Pools cleans and services cartridge, DE, and sand filters for homeowners throughout Phoenix, from Arcadia and the Biltmore corridor to Ahwatukee and North Phoenix. Licensed under ROC #33666 and serving the Phoenix metro since 2008, we clean filters the right way, not just a quick rinse.
The most common type in newer Phoenix pools. We remove, deep-clean, and inspect pleats for tears or calcium scale buildup. Hard water deposits are a frequent issue on Phoenix cartridges and reduce filtration surface area if left untreated.
We break down the grid assembly, clean each grid individually, inspect for tears in the filter fabric, and recharge with fresh DE powder to restore full filtration capacity.
We backwash thoroughly and inspect for channeling or sand that’s become compacted or coated with oils and minerals, which reduces filtration effectiveness even when backwashing looks normal.
We check your filter type, pressure readings, and overall condition before starting.
Cartridges are soaked and cleaned pleat by pleat; DE grids are cleaned individually; sand filters are backwashed and inspected internally.
We look for torn cartridges, cracked DE grids, worn O-rings, and valve issues while the system is open, since these are easy to miss during a routine backwash alone.
We confirm normal pressure and flow before considering the job complete.
Serving the Phoenix metro since 2008.
We inspect components most rushed cleanings skip.
From homeowners across the Phoenix area.
We know how dust storms, monsoon debris, and hard water affect filtration systems here specifically.

GOOD Based on 145 reviews Posted on Google Michael SkinnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Back in January of this year, I had Captain Pools change out my old sand filter for a cartridge type filter and they did a very good job with that. Over the last couple of months though, I had noticed that the union fitting on top of the pump was leaking a little water during pump operation. Although I don't like ANY leaks, I kept putting it off. Several days ago I called Captain Pools and asked them if they could look at it. Anyway, they arrived today and discovered the fitting was just a little loose so it ended up being a very quick fix. I'm glad they were able to respond quickly to my request, diagnose the issue and fix the problem. I'll continue to use Captain Pools in the future for any problems that arise, and recommend their services for any pool work.Posted on Google Mike DickinsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great weekly price and great service!Posted on Google Rosemary RaysorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have used Captain Pools for approximately 6 years, in addition to having them do a full refresh (decking, removal of an old water feature and adding pebble stone). We have been very happy with their service, their communications (i.e. if our technician is out sick or delayed, we are notified) and their fairness. I am able to trust if they tell me a part needs repair / replacement, and they take care of issues timely. Would absolutely recommend Captain Pools!Posted on Google Matt CavendishTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have been a customer of Captain Pools for over 10 years—they are an amazing company. Nate the owner has been so helpful for my family from the start. Today we had out cartridge filters cleaned by Scott! Wow! Living in this dusty desert really takes a toll on mostly everything. Scott did an awesome job! He was super nice, especially to our little dog who ran outside. See the before and after phots below. Seeing is believing. Thank you again Scott and Captain Pools!Posted on Google Jeff GitlinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Lucas is amazing. Very helpful and knowledgeable about pools. Pool filter cleaning was well priced and efficient. Additionally, the tech showed me how to set my valves for spa mode along with regular daily settings. He also answered a few other questions that I had along with some general tips and tricks for pool maintenance. Have been using Captain Pools for 2 pools weekly for the last few years, only good things to say.Posted on Google Connie JamesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have had Captain Pools service my pool for 2 years. I have had other companies that lied, did not answer calls, and were very unprofessional. I am completely happy with Captain Pools. They go above and beyond. Prices are very fair Connie James
It depends on filter type, pool usage, and season. Cartridge filters generally need cleaning more often during monsoon season and heavy pollen periods; DE and sand filters vary by system size and bather load. We can recommend a schedule based on your specific setup.
It depends on your filter type and condition. We provide a written quote after inspecting the system rather than quoting a flat rate over the phone.
Backwashing flushes trapped debris out of a sand or DE filter using reverse water flow, but it doesn’t deep-clean cartridge pleats, recharge DE grids, or catch worn components. A full cleaning goes further and includes an inspection.
Yes. A clogged filter forces the pump to work harder to maintain flow, which increases energy use and can shorten pump lifespan over time if left unaddressed.
Yes, we service all three filter types.
Chemical treatment alone doesn’t remove fine particulate that’s overwhelmed the filter media. If cloudiness persists after shocking, the filter itself may need cleaning rather than another round of chemicals.
If your water’s looking cloudy or your pressure gauge is creeping up, don’t wait for it to get worse. Call Captain Pools at (480) 907-0076 or request a free quote online, and we’ll get your filtration system back to full capacity.
